Some of the innovations we have tested are already bearing fruit : 

• Installation of a rubble-tracking tool that characterises, records, and provides real-time tracking for the earth excavated from worksites. This program provides end-to-end monitoring of where the rubble winds up so we can write reports for government agencies and local administrations. And since the tool is completely digital, it's saving us from issuing over 1.5 million paper shipping slips.
• Use of fibre-reinforced concrete to build the voussoirs on part of Line 16. This is a first in France for underground construction. This sort of concrete offers several benefits: it cuts down production time, uses less steel, provides ecological and financial gains, and reacts better to cracking and fires. One voussoir made of fibre-reinforced concrete contains about 55% less steel per m³ than a reinforced concrete voussoir. It also saves 800-1,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent for every km of tunnel.

Innovations in the testing phase :

• Mobile relaying : not only does it provide passengers Internet access during their trip, but it also reduces energy consumption and EMF exposure.
• We are working with Vinci Construction to conduct a wide-scale experiment on Line 18 where they are installing prefabricated voussoirs made of ultra-low-carbon concrete. This is also a first in France. Made of cementless alkali-activated slag, these voussoirs cut CO2 emissions by some 70% compared to conventional concrete, and emit only half as much as low-carbon concrete.
