A CSR roadmap for a sustainable development project

Société des grands projets has undertaken numerous environmental, social and economic commitments in order to design and create the Grand Paris Express and ensure the project contributes to the ecological and energy transition in Paris region. This ambition is also central to our approach to successfully developing other metropolitan regional express services (SERM).

Our three commitments

Our CSR roadmap defines our ambitions through three core commitments. The indicators set for these commitments are tracked from year to year.

1. Leading the project in a dialogue-based, ethical and human-centred way

Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders

- Working in cooperation with local stakeholders.
- Supporting local residents and professionals impacted by the construction work.
- CSR clauses in our procurement contracts.

Having appropriate governance and ensuring our practices are fair

- Embedding CSR in Société des grands projets’s strategy and management.
- Independent governance bodies.

Preventing risks related to project safety

- A prevention strategy for worksite safety, with which all stakeholders must comply.

Ensuring employees’ health, diversity, equal treatment and career paths

- A proactive policy on quality of life at work (QLW).
- Developing employees’ skills.
- A hiring policy that promotes diversity and equal opportunities.

2. Building while conserving the environment and contributing to the resilience of tomorrow’s city

Deploying an ambitious policy for the climate and the energy transition

- Anticipating and considering climate risks in the design and build of structures and station districts.
- An energy efficiency plan integrated in the design, build and operation of the Grand Paris Express.
- Introduction of lower-emission processes and methods in the build and operation phases.
- Developing intermodality around stations.

- Managing and recycling excavated material.
- Using recycled, biosourced materials from Grand Paris Express worksites to build structures and station districts.

Encouraging social diversity in urban projects

- Developing affordable homes in station districts.
- Promoting functional diversity in public spaces.

Completing a reliable, accessible and inclusive metro

- A network that is maintainable, operable, accessible and sustainable.
- Designing stations as places that will give a structure to tomorrow’s culture and heritage.

Our contribution to the UN’s sustainable development goals

Given how the Grand Paris Express will benefit mobility, the environment and the economy, and its contribution to reducing social and regional inequalities, our roadmap is aligned with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. These SDGs pinpoint 17 priorities to be achieved by 2030, thus taking part in economic development that respects people and the planet.
